Just The Good Parts

We DID have a chance to find some fun in New York, and the kids were just happy to hang out with grandma and grandpa.

Owen in his lightning bug costume.  So darned cute!

We went to the nursing home to see my sweet grandma.  She loved seeing the kids, and just watched them run all over the room being crazy kids.

 Me and grandma.
Marin enjoying a lollipop after trick or treating.  It was a cold, wet night to take the kids out, but Marin was soooo looking forward to it, so we trudged out and she was so sweet on the way home; she said "thank you for taking me trick or treating, mommy!".  It was adorable.
Checking out the turtle at great-grandma's house.
Marin and Grandpa making apple pies.
 Such a good helper.
I was in NY for my parents 36th (??) anniversary, and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to follow with tradition.  My older brother Jonathan and sister Tabitha and I used to make my parents their anniversary dinner every year.  We would have a secret meeting in Jonathan's room to plan the menu and then go buy the food.  Then we would set up the nice round table in the TV room and light candles and cook a very fancy dinner, usually ravioli and some salad.  It's been a few years, but I think we were successful!

Marin and I made some pumpkin cupcakes with cinnamon chips and cream cheese frosting with leafy sprinkles.  Yuuuummmmm.

Watching the buffalo hunt with Grandpa.

 Hangin' with great Uncle Brian.

 Owen looking at the airplanes.

I love this picture of Marin.
Eating some fruit snack treats on the plane with a movie.
 Reading stories with Uncle Matthew.
A little wagon ride after we picked out pumpkins and saw the cute animals in the barn.

Mmmmm, whoopie pies.  We had so many treats at Grandma and Grandpa's.  Time to get back to real life!
Grandpa having some fun with Owen at Friendly's.
We went to the Cheese Trap for some yummy goodies, pancake mix, cute decorations, cheese....and Owen had some fun of his own.
Our flight home was delayed, so Marin and Owen and Grandma had some fun on the escalators.
And a trip home wouldn't be complete without haircuts for all the men.  Modeling here for us is Matthew, but dad and Jacob had cuts as well.  Look at that face.
 Cheeeeese!

We were sad to go, but daddy was missing us at home!
